Organization of Rural Women’s Development Associations for Progress (ORDWAP) was created in 1990 as a women’s self-help, community-based umbrella organization committed to improving the well-being of rural women in the South West Province by facilitating their access to credit and health care, promoting economic literacy, and encouraging knowledge-sharing on issues such as food processing and production, agriculture, nutrition, marketing and entrepreneurial skills.

Goals for 2007

• Ongoing training in small-scale collective production of commodities to generate income, such as soap.
• Ongoing training in safe and efficient subsistence agriculture.
• Ongoing development of high-yield, low-input agricultural products.
• Ongoing cooperation with other NGOs to train in economic literacy and savings schemes for women.
