Kamser B Widows & Orphans Group is working to address the impact of drought by ensuring access to water for vulnerable community members.
Goals for 2007
- Digging two boreholes, one to serve 1000 households at the far north end of the village, the second to serve 500 households at the south end, as well as to serve the primary and secondary school.
- Development of an irrigation system for a farm geared toward producing tomatoes and other vegetables that meet the specific nutritional needs of people living with HIV/AIDS.
- Cereal farming for basic subsistence of group members, grandmothers and orphans in the community.
- Development of a tree nursery to generate income to a) buy seed and b) fund transportation to hospital, medical care, and medicines.
- Continuation of the women’s support group to console widowed families, help with burial costs, and assist with the raising of orphans.
