Village Network

The Peacework Village Network involves a partnership between an institution of higher education with a community in a developing country. Students and faculty from several academic disciplines work together with local people on projects that encourage community advancement and enhance quality of life. These partnerships help meet tangible needs of communities while allowing students practical experience in their areas of study.

Every need in a community is interrelated. Sustained economic development depends on a trained work force, access to education, available health care, safe places to live and work, infrastructure for transportation and communication, reliable sources of nutrition and water, and respect for human rights. None of these needs can be fully addressed without adequate resources and support in every other area. The Peacework Village Network focuses on all of these needs simultaneously.

Peacework works with indigenous community partners who are uniquely familiar with local needs and resources. Programs are designed to meet needs identified by the community. Please visit Country pages for information about partners. Through these and similar partners Peacework is ready to create partnerships throughout the world. Our inaugural Village Network initiative was a partnership with the University of Arkansas. Click for more information.
