Health and sexual education in Punta Gorda and surrounding areas
Currently in Punta Gorda, resources are scarce for education, prevention and treatment of issues of sexual and reproductive health to the large population of people that need assistance. Volunteers will train staff and then assist in education in outlying communities. Such issues to be covered include: condom usage, way to diagnosis STIs, where to receive treatment, self-esteem building workshops, information about abusive relationships, info about pap smears and breast exams, and HIV/AIDS education. This project could be combined with basic hygiene classes in local schools for which many principals have expressed the need.
