Women’s groups in Ngeta Village, Kenya, many of them groups of widows, are joining forces to support other widows and orphans who have lost family members to HIV/AIDS.
A village of about 10,000 people, Ngeta has no health clinic or clean water source. The community needs include digging wells, improving general livelihood for each household through vocational training and income generation, improving food security, building an orphanage, financially supporting quality education for vulnerable orphans, acquiring textbooks for community secondary schools, and supporting higher education for graduates from the community secondary schools who are not able to access existing government loans for higher education.
