Monetary Assistance for the Purchase of School Textbooks
The secondary school principal of Ngeta has appealed for help in providing textbooks to the students. He said for certain that if students had textbooks that they would share, even one among four students. Then, their test results would improve and they would have more students qualifying for government loans to support their college education. There are six compulsory textbooks per class. Each book costs about US$8, multiplied by 6 this is US$48. Each class of 40 students needs 10 sets of books to share one text book in each compulsory subject among four students in a class : 48 x 10 = 480 x 4 classes = US$ 1,920. Since the curriculum was just recently revised, it is hoped that the books will be in use for the next ten years. Should there be slight changes; the school management will try to find solutions to cope with the slight curriculum changes.
