Continuing construction of Maternal and Women's Health Center
Construction has begun on a Maternal and Women's health Center in rural Honduras. The leaders of the community wanted personal safety and health resources for women with the installation of a local clinic, while also increasing the chances of healthy birth and decreasing infant mortality. Construction and monetary assistance are essential for the successful completion of this project. With the completed clinic, women will not have to travel long distances on roads that might be treacherous due to weather, often leaving other children in the family behind for days while the parents are in the city. Furthermore, the city hospital charges the equivalent of $200.00 USD, which is approximately 5 months pay for a coffee worker. Families unable to pay are often turned away except in the case of imminent mortality. The clinic will bring much needed care to around 100,000 women in the region.
