Peacework volunteers have worked extensively in school and community building projects in the Dominican Republic. Groups have done construction, painting, tutoring, and many other activities. Recently, the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine held clinics in the bateyes of Bahoruco/Barahona for the often underserved Dominican-Haitian population of this region. Doctors did follow up with existing patients in the area and also invited all members of the community to attend an open primary and emergency clinic.
